Myself and three other reporters set out to research just how possible California Governor Gavin Newsom’s “no gas-powered cars by 2035” mandate really is, and what would need to happen for it to really come to fruition. We were published by NowThis Earth, who we worked with on creating a social media reel that was featured on their Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. I was the voiceover for it.

Home to The Forum and the Hollywood Park horse racetrack, Inglewood, Calif. was once one of the sports capitals of the country. Those days of the Showtime Lakers are in the past, but now with SoFi Stadium bringing the NFL to town and the upcoming Intuit Dome serving as future home of the Clippers, the Inglewood sports scene is in the middle of something of a resurgence. In the very center of that resurgence is the Inglewood Transit Connector, which unfortunately brings with it its own set of problems.
Youth sailing: de-rigging the barriers to a sports with much to offer
Youth sailing is a sport with so much to teach kids, including self-reliance, resourcefulness, confidence, and on-the-fly thinking. The unfortunate thing is it’s super expensive. There do exist places, though, like the Peninsula Youth Sailing Foundation, which offers “scholarships” to families who might not be able to afford the high costs of the sport.
